I knew this man very well (happy to verify privately if mods require). He died a few years back sadly.

Wing Commander Alan Turner (RAF) interview: when he was a junior officer (ATC), he saw objects on military radar moving at pace, he confirmed his sighting by triangulating with civilian ATC. Given the cold war state of alert, he scrambled fast jets to intercept.

He only told me about it after he was informed the documents & reports from the time were declassified. He said that after the incident he was debriefed by people from an agency that they did not identify, and told how severe the consequences would be if he spoke about it.

Al was many things but not a bullshitter, especially about his work.

They've known about what's happening now for decades.
