The mayor of Belleville NJ broke down his findings from an unprecedented meeting of mayors in NJ at the NJSP headquarters. He begins by saying that the drones appear to be targeting NJ infrastructure. Most notably in the beginning of the video, he says that a mayor asked point blank if the drones are the work of the DoD, to which the representative replied “not ours.”

A meeting like this has never happed in state history, which convened all mayors who were able to join, (all were invited), as well as members of the state legislature.

- FBI and NJSP are coordinating with the coast guard in an effort to track them down

- first sightings reported Nov 18. Sightings have happened every night since (including Thanksgiving) dawn to dusk

- anywhere from 4-180 per night

- “There is no credible threat” per NJSP. The mayor makes note that everyone pressed about this, and concluded that this means there is no actively known threat, but they do not know of that could change

- acknowledge the potential for drones to crash into planes

- drones are most notable around Picatinny arsenal, reservoirs, nuclear power plants

- Mayor of West Milford NJ stated 60 drones were present at the reservoirs in their town (largest in NJ)

- drones: 6ft diameter, coordinated, lights are usually on, but do turn off making them difficult to track. Avoid detection by all traditional methodology. Nobody knows anything else about them

- drones are considered aircraft, therefore cannot be shot down without federal approval

- NJSP does not believe the operators of the drone are anywhere within sight, as regulation requires operators be in sight during nighttime flying

- NJSP helicopters guard the Raritan Bay to see if they are coming in off the ocean. NJSP states NJ has the most robust detection equipment in the nation, but is not detecting anything

- NJSP concerned of collision with their helicopters when the lights go off

Unknowns:
Point of origin, the party that is behind the incursions (not federal or foreign), drone types, no idea if they carry a payload

Clearly there’s cause for concern. Very freaky stuff happening in my home state.
