Description

In the 1970s, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, residents of small towns in the state of Pará began reporting frightening encounters with mysterious lights in the sky. These lights, known as “chupa-chupa,” allegedly attacked people, causing fear and even injuries. The situation became so serious that the Brazilian Air Force decided to investigate the phenomenon, launching Operation Prato.

Between 1977 and 1978, military personnel were sent to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and attempt to unravel the mystery. Photographs, videos, and detailed accounts were documented. However, over the years, this information became shrouded in secrecy, leading many to question what truly occurred.

Decades later, this case is back in the spotlight with “Operação Prato,” a new original podcast on Globoplay. Narrated by Andrei Fernandes, known for exploring mysteries and paranormal phenomena, the podcast delves not only into the events but also the culture of fear that gripped the region and the possible explanations for what transpired.

Directed by Ivan Mizanzuk, who was behind “O Caso Evandro,” and with a research team including Cesar Gaglioni and Heitor Costa, the podcast brings forth previously unreleased documents, impactful testimonies, and surprising theories. Additionally, Ira Croft’s meticulous production ensures an immersive experience, transporting listeners to the Pará of the 1970s—deep in the jungle—where the supernatural and the real intertwine.

If you’re intrigued by historical mysteries and unexplained cases, “Operação Prato” is the podcast that will leave you questioning what truly happened beneath the Amazonian skies.

It’s time to reopen Operation Prato.
