Description

A couple of days ago, this post got a fair amount of traction on this subreddit and unmasked "WhistlingMike" as well as provided a photo that was said to contain the same element used in exotic craft.

"Whistling Mike" unmasked; PHOTO of alleged stealth craft material held by Senate intel committee : r/UFOs (https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/1wdhfsm/whistling_mike_unmaske…)

Many people did not read this story correctly, and thought the ore came from the craft itself, but I do not believe this was the case. The photo provided is a photo of the same element from the craft, that was found in its natural form.

I believe it is possible, that the picture provided shows molybdenite.

The red arrows point to what may be molybdenite, while the circles point to what could be copper (copper is often found alongside molybdenite)

The molybdenite is not what may or may not be included in exotic craft however. Within molybdenite can exist a rare element called rhenium.

Rhenium (https://www.samaterials.com/blog/rhenium-element-properties-and-uses.…) is an ultra-rare, silvery-white transition metal that holds some interesting properties:

* Huge Melting Point: Rhenium melts at 3,180°C (5,756°F). Only carbon and tungsten beat it.
* Highest Boiling Point: It holds the record for the highest boiling point of all elements at 5,590°C (10,104°F).
* Great Density: It is very heavy and dense (21.04 g/cm³), ranking among the densest metals on Earth.
* Stays Bendable: Pure rhenium does not become brittle when cold. It keeps its ductility—the ability to be shaped without breaking—all the way up to its melting point.
* Wide Oxidation States: It can form chemical bonds across a massive range of oxidation states (from -1 to +7), which helps it act as a strong catalyst in chemical reactions.
* No Carbides: Unlike many other refractory (heat-resistant) metals, rhenium does not combine with carbon to form hard, brittle carbides.
* Corrosion Resistance: It resists wear and chemical degradation well under extreme harsh conditions.

For those who are deep down the rabbit hole, rhenium has also been mentioned multiple times, as being included in exotic craft, on the strange website forgottenlanguages.org.

"The semiconducting rhenium disilicide detectors are efficient at wavelengths which mate with the transmission capabilities of certain optical fibers, thereby enhancing the combination of infrared detectors and optical fiber transmission previously known. The range of electromagnetic radiation sensed by these rhenium disilicide detectors include the infrared range of wavelengths up to 14 microns."

"The Taos Range is underlain by Precambrian metamorphic rocks, mostly granite and granite gneiss, and a Tertiary complex of volcanics and intrusives. The special thing about Questa is that there we have a strategic molybdenum mine area; not that we are interested in the molybdenum as is, we are interested in the rhenium. Now it looks like "they" are also interested, or may be "they" always were."

...

"All rhenium-rich sulphide copper ore deposits seems to be a hotspot for whatever reason. In our view, those things are geochemical sounding probes showing a strong preference for molybdenum deposits rich in rhenium. Those hotpots are the only place where you can record and have a good view at those things; they hover for hours in close proximity and pay no attention to our presence, they certainly weren't hiding themselves, so we can do our intel gathering job without issues."

I would be happy for any geologists or chemists to chime in and tell me I am an idiot here, or completely wrong on the identification of the minerals/elements.

In any case, there is a great writeup available on the following forum should anyone be inclined to dig deeper - UAP and rhenium (https://cypherage.com/t-uap-and-rhenium)
