There's an apparent disconnect between the anecdotal war stories that have circulated since 2019 and the record. Whatever the case, the FOIA was granted because of his public status and will be of interest to supporters and detractors. He had an exemplary career and honorable discharge which deserves respect. Questions remain about the accuracy of recent recollections.

Recent controversy about FOIA exemptions begs the question of why his records get released when others are being denied on grounds of law enforcement investigations. Greenewald/Black Vault has complained at length about public interest FOIAs being denied. Expanding Frontiers were also denied on the "Law enforcement" exemption when they did a FOIA on the Galileo Project (https://www.expandingfrontiersresearch.org/post/foia-request-obtains-…).
