Description
I wanted to share a demonstration video of a video I shot of the moon with a cheap camera I bought off of eBay for under $100.
It had an optical zoom of 40x and is 1080p. It’s not the best quality, but for the price and its ability to zoom and focus on a bright object at night (which is hard to do for a camera if you have any knowledge of photography) it’s a great option to carry around if you are interested in any sort of UFO hunting as a hobby.
Obviously it’s also good in the day time. A lot of people complain about the poor quality of videos we have today and the main issue is the digital zoom on modern cell phones. What’s needed is optical zoom to get rid of that pixelation.
Anyways, here’s a link to a video I uploaded showing a fast zoom in and zoom out of the moon giving the camera minimal time to focus. It’s a good test for zooming in on an “orb” at night. Or differentiating between a plane, or a star, or a balloon, kite, blimp during the daytime etc.
There is nothing special in this video other than demonstrating how a camcorder with a 40x optical zoom from 2011, can be purchased for under $100, and beat today’s cell phones for anyone interested.
I picked one up and take it with me camping while I stargaze.
