In this installation of PBS SpaceTime the physics of an Alcubierre (warp) drive (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive) and the detection of its signatures is discussed. Namely, gravitational wave detectors, similar to LIGO (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LIGO), could theoretically detect the gravitational ripples caused by the collapse of a warp bubble. Unfortunately, a collapsing warp bubble would likely be too high frequency to be detected by modern gravitational wave detectors, as they are designed to detect lower frequency waves caused by large astronomical events (neutron star and black hole mergers).

Another method of detection could involve looking for an electromagnetic signature caused by dematerialization or collapse of the warp bubble. For follow up, Dave Grusch and his old buddies at NRO might have something to say. An NRO agent, likely Grusch, was found in an email chain (https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOB/comments/1dj3ecm/nro_employee_most_like…) to be requesting activation of a UAP detection module in the Sentient World Simulation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthetic_Environment_for_Analysis_and_…).

While we wait for higher frequency gravitational wave detectors to be built there is not much else to do in the way of electromagnetic detection. As Rep. Eric Burlison recently responded to Matt Laslo (https://www.askapol.com/p/nothing-top-secret-about-extraterrestrial-u…), "There is nothing top secret about extraterrestrial UFOs. The only thing that's top secret [...] is if we had devices that recorded it, or captured the footage, or there was radar or whatever."
