Description

Spotted a strange colorful orb over the University of Arizona last night anyone else see this?

Last night around 9:30–10 PM in Tucson, near the University of Arizona, we noticed a really strange colorful object/orb extremely high in the western sky.

What caught our attention was the way it was moving. It didn’t have a normal straight flight path like a plane or satellite. It would move side to side, up and down, sometimes in an arc, and then suddenly seem to drop lower before moving again. At one point it disappeared and then came back.

It appeared much higher than normal airplane traffic, at least from our perspective, and we watched it for a while with the naked eye. It was visibly colorful and seemed to change in appearance as it moved.

I managed to get several videos, but this photo is actually the closest representation of what it looked like to the naked eye. The videos don’t capture the appearance nearly as well.

This was directly above/near the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Did anyone else in Tucson see this last night? Or does anyone have an idea what it could have been? I can post the videos too if anyone wants to take a closer look.

Note: I’m familiar with what stars, the Moon, and visible planets look like because I watch and photograph the night sky pretty regularly. This did not look or behave like any star or planet I’ve seen before. Whatever it was, it was something completely unfamiliar to me.
