This is a link to the Northern Illinois Bottlecap Balloon Brigade. Apparently its members, inspired by the movie Up, create and launch balloons that float all around the world. They've specifically made mylar balloons designed to fly up to 40,000 feet.

Apparently, sometime this past Saturday, shortly before the object shot over the Yukon, they lost contact with a balloon with the call sign K9YO. It was flying at roughly 40,000 feet, and was located in the same vicinity as the Yukon object that was shot down.

Here's a New Yorker article that goes into greater detail. (https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2023/02/did-an-f-22-blow-up-some-illi…)

The circumstantial evidence is compelling. The altitude and location of the object both match with what was reported.

But according the group's recent blog post (https://nibbb.org/blog/) this sort of thing happens all the time: balloons often go missing for periods of time for any number of reasons, and the balloon in question, I believe was no more than a 32 - 40" mylar balloon with a 16 gram tracking payload. Below is what a mylar balloon with a tracker looks like.

I'm posting this only because the FBI is currently speaking the group and this may be the conclusion they reach. And whether it's correct or not, this may very well be what mainstream media goes with as the explanation for at least the Yukon object.

And if that object has an innocuous explanation, the prospect of the other objects having harmless explanations increases as well.

My personal thoughts on this being the explanation is: it's certainly possible. But the idea that a trained military pilot could mistake the above picture - even if it was larger and formed into different shapes, for anything other than a harmless balloon, feels like a very difficult pill to swallow. The group also stresses they always launch their balloons in accordance with guidelines and have never had any issues before. Also, as stated earlier, balloons go missing all the time and often reconnect over a different location. They don't believe the object shot down is their balloon at this time.

And of course, let's not forget, none of the debris has ever been recovered. And apparently, they never will be recovered.

Look, as silly as we would all feel if this turns out to be true - and it hasn't been proven, yet - it would be nothing compared to how utterly ridiculous Biden and the Pentagon will look for the disproportionate response and total lack of transparency for days afterwards.

What I'd like: a clear, discussion of the possibility of this being the explanation for at least the Yukon object.

Why could it be this? Why could it not be?

EDIT: My whole point is here is that I don't believe this story. But like it or not, this could be what the media goes to to explain these objects. This is to gather contrary evidence as well as listen to people who may buy this story.
