Description
I've come across a lot of posted footage of "Orbs" and recently "Batteries" in the sky, and I have to point out that these are not Orb or Battery shaped objects.
Many of you probably know this already, but I feel like I have to make a post demonstrating what's happening. I haven't seen any other posts covering this, so here's my attempt.
The "Orbs" are filmed out of focus with a normal wide lens that has a circular shape while the recent "Batteries" are filmed with the out of focus Telephoto lens that has a rectangular shape. I demonstrate this with these two screen recordings of my phone app switching between Wide and Telephoto lenses.
One is of my computer desk with the various lights, one is from my window (pardon the triple-paned glass reflections), then some still pictures of the light sources at two different focus levels.
I wish people would stop making this mistake when posting videos.
PS. It's cloudy outside here so I can't get any stars, but I encourage you to do the same thing with your own phone using different lenses and sky-conditions. If the object blinks or flickers, the "Orb" will do the same.
Filmed/shot with a Pixel 10 Pro XL.
