I made this post for those who might be on the fence about this documentary-series (https://flxt.tmsimg.com/assets/p19274155_b_v10_aa.jpg). Or those familiar with the topic who were overwhelmed by all the information presented in these episodes. In about 45 mins, they bombard the viewer with information. It's a really interesting narrative to those familiar with the sightings presented.

If you are on the fence, I'd say watch this docu-series. However, note that this show requires the viewer to keep a widely open mind. Overall, they weave an interesting narrative. But please keep your spin-foil hat on at all times, because they go balls-deep into the politics surrounding the phenomenon. This docu-series is not so much about UFOs. It's more about the US government's response to the phenomenon.

Episode 01: Project Blue Book Unknown

On the first episode, this docu-series highlights some facts:

1. This documentary embraces the ET hypothesis.
2. There are reports pointing to a possible UAP crash in New Mexico on July 1947.
3. In the early 1950s, the US Government created Project Blue Book as a means to appease the masses, who were confronted with a large UAP presence across the US.
4. One of Project Blue Books First “Unknowns” was explained by the USAF as being “Temperature Inversions,” This was the Great Flap of Washington, DC in 1952. There is enough anecdotal and alleged existence of radar data to suggests that this mass event happened.
5. UFO experts have hypothesized that the ETs were trying to indirectly send a message to humanity by doing a show of force: "We are here. You can count on our involvement. Nuclear Weapons cannot only endanger you, but also the entire planet."
6. There is a connection between UAP and military facilities, either testing or housing Nuclear Weapons. And it has been researched to death by Robert Hastings (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q87Nt5cBR_g).
7. Contactee George Adamski was investigated by Project Blue Book. And Project Blue Book discredited him. What are we to learn from Orthon's message that "Earthlings should stop messing around with atomic bombs"?
8. UAP is a Global Phenomenon. It is reported, investigated and documented all over the world.
9. The New Mexico case from 1964 involving Lonnie Zamora's sighting of an UAP, was investigated by Project Blue Book and deemed a “True Unknown.” It was also one of the incidents which convinced Dr. J. Allen Hynek that the phenomenon was, in fact, real. Lonnie's case was but one sighing out of several in the area indicating this was another "Flap."
10. The UFO Community has highly hypothesized (by putting one and one together) that, allegedly after Project Blue Book's creation, the CIA began a misinformation campaign to muddy the waters on the UFO topic in order to help maintain the public's interest at a minimum.
11. After over (20) years of investigating the phenomenon, the USAF closed Project Blue Book in 1969 via the Condon Report (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condon_Committee). This report was highly biased and contradicted its own findings.
12. Cases have continued ever since.
13. There exists one very peculiar documented case by Project Blue Book. A bizarre sighting from 1966 which describes an UAP being operated by a soldier and the UAP possibly being manmade. This case was suppressed.
14. The revelation of AATIP's existence in 2017 suggests that the US government had been secretly investigating the phenomenon outside of public view.
15. Based on Dr. J Allen Hynek’s findings and all the other collected information pertaining to Project Blue Book. It can be said that the true goal of Project Blue Book was to help create a mantle of stigma and ridicule around the phenomenon, in order to invalidate it. By conditioning the public's reaction, to quickly dismiss any UFO claims.
16. The Study of UFOs became “Fringe Science.”

This episode serves as an introduction. However, the entire episode and some of the subsequent episodes highlight how public perception changed towards the phenomenon over the years. For instance, during the late 1940s, the press would treat UFO claims, the same way which they would approach any unsolved mystery. People were more willing to tell their stories and the press was more willing to listen and publish these fantastical claims. The tipping point was one sighting in particular which made the headlines all over the USA. This is where the term "Flying Saucer" was coined.

1947.06.24 near Mt. Rainier, Mineral, Washington, USA. (Kenneth Arnold Sighting (https://saucerco.com/blogs/saucer-encounters/kenneth-arnold-and-the-s…))

The episode also highlights the government's approach to handling public claims of UFOs. This pointed to there being "something happening" which compelled the government to take action and assign people in the military with the responsibility of investigating the phenomenon. The incident which drove the government's approach was what occurred in Roswell, New Mexico about two weeks after David Arnold's story had been buzzing on the news for some time.

1947.07.05 Roswell, New Mexico, USA. (Jesse Marcel Jr. is shown debris by his dad (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN5lT6UNKEE)).

Here the government made a huge slip. The local military authorized a newspaper article that said: "We Have Captured a Flying Saucer. (https://thumbs-prod.si-cdn.com/IbKU5TsJL1j7jxTIaDOKaNzXLaY=/fit-in/16…; As a result, the White House ordered a complete lockdown of all information and personnel connected with the Roswell Incident (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roswell_incident). Shortly after, government officials including Jesse Marcel Sr. (https://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/idahostatejournal.com/co…) were involved in a press briefing on the matter. And a new story was told by the press: "Army Disk-counts New Mexico Find as Weather Gear (https://www.history.com/.image/t_share/MTY4MDI4MDc2NzAwMDgzNTg0/roswe…; (All this drama happened within a matter of days since the alleged UAP crash. They believe it to be proof of an government cover-up).

As a result, between 1948 and 1952 the USAF created a sequence of Projects to study the phenomenon. Project Sign (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Sign), which was followed by Project Grudge (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Grudge) which eventually lead to the creation of Project Blue Book (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Blue_Book) starting official business on March 1952. A little over (5) years after the alleged UAP crash in Roswell, New Mexico. And a few months since Project Blue Book had started its operations. A fleet, of at least (7) UAP, allegedly arrived in formation hovering over the skies of Washington DC. During two consecutive weekends, the UAP swarmed the area. This mass sighting or "Flap" was preceded by other sightings. The objects appeared on the radar screens of local airports and military USAF bases.

1952 : 07.19-20 / 07.26-27 Washington, DC, USA. (The Great Flap of Washington DC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1952_Washington,_D.C._UFO_incident)).

The sightings happened over night and started as early as 8:15 PM, lasting all the way into the wee hours of the morning or all the way until sunrise. There were multiple reports coming from the public, such as commercial plane pilots. As well as, military personnel such as military radar operators. Furthermore, the Air Force dispatched military jets to intersect the fleet.

During the first flap, the UFOs vanished after being intersected by our military jets. During the second flap, the UFO fleet outmaneuvered our military jets (Not unlike what David Fravor would witness (52) years later over the Pacific Ocean). It is important to note that Project Blue Book denied reporter's requests to photograph the radar screens.

This incident was of such significance that it appeared in the press and furthermore. It prompted the USAF to appear on National TV (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKNkF34KLCk) in order to provide “a solution” and “explanation.” As a means of reassuring the populace that "all was well," they determined that this incident had simply been the result of "Natural Temperature Inversions" which disrupted radar systems.

🤦🏻‍♂️

1952.11.20 Colorado Desert, Desert Center, California, USA. (George Adamski Sighting (https://www.history.com/news/george-adamski-ufo-alien-photos))

Adamski, who had had several alleged UFO experiences since 1946, claims that a humanoid Venusian by the name of Orthon (https://www.history.com/.image/t_share/MTY4NTEyNTY1MTE3MjAwMTUx/pbb-v…) came down on an Scout Ship (http://www.adamskifoundation.com/Rene%20Erik%20Olsen%20-%20Denmark/De…). Which had originated from a larger cigar-shaped Mother Ship (https://www.history.com/.image/t_share/MTY4NTEyNjQ0MDM3Mjg5NzUx/ufo-g…). Originally, George was in the desert with a large group of friends who also claim to have seen the cigar-shaped mothership. This sighting was also corroborated by an independent eye-witness who was interviewed by Project Blue Book. Adamski had separated from the group to go meet with the Scout Ship. Orthon telepathically communicated to George that "Earthlings should stop messing around with atomic bombs." All this was recorded by Project Blue Book and they would later discredit his claims.

Project Blue Book took an interest in George Adamski. The documentary here points that Project Blue Book, particularly on its later phase, adopted a policy of discrediting witnesses. It is implied that perhaps Adamski was one of the people to have been purposely discredited by Project Blue Book (https://wgnradio.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2020/06/AP_6603250199…).

They highlight how Dr. Joseph Allen Hynek, over the years, went from being a neutral skeptic to becoming a believer in the phenomenon. He expressed this through interviews and books which he wrote. Furthermore, Hynek realized that he was being used by the USAF as a tool to carry out their biased investigations, and further to down-play the phenomenon.

He became frustrated and had his own form of small disclosure. He let out as much information as he was allowed. After all, these had been scientifically studied cases. At the time, the study of UFOs was a respectable science. And US government was actively investigating the phenomenon, by conducting scientific investigation through Project Blue Book.

What people were reporting in the US, wasn’t exclusive to the US. This was also happening in other countries. Such was the case of a mass sighting over the skies of New Guinea.

1959.06.21 Boianai, Papua, New Guinea. (Boianai Sighting (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu8c_e-8Qbo))

Father William Booth Gill and a group of 38 individual witnesses observed an UAP hovering over the area. The following night the UAP came back, and Father Gill along with 25 other witnesses interacted from afar, with a group of humanoid figures on top of the UAP (https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-yzgoj/images/stencil/1280x1280/produc…). They waved at each other. The encounter ended when the UAP instantaneously accelerated out of sight.

(10) years later Project Blue Book would come to a close on December 17, 1969.

[Narrator] In the 1950s, at the behest of the CIA, The Robertson Panel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robertson_Panel) was established. A scientific committee that precisely shaped strategies and tactics of dealing with the media. Even if UFOs did not pose a direct threat to the United States, a threat could arise from the mismanagement of classified information and public interest. Therefore a massive disinformation plan was created and put into action gradually integrating their talking points into public life.

The documentary here presents that Project Blue Book's closure was in part, the result of the influence by The Robertson Panel. And that the true purpose of Project Blue Book was to ultimately make the study of UFOs scientifically unrespectable. This was nothing but a smokescreen to keep the subject of UFOs out of the public domain. This much, is in line with a conclusion made by none other than Dr. J. Allen Hynek. This was what he concluded.

In 2015, (46) years after Project Blue Book's closure, their archives were made public. However, the archives are highly incomplete. A couple of years earlier, in 2013, UFO investigator Bob Mercer had come across a cache of boxes filled with some of Project Blue Book's investigation notes. You can review some of these documents (https://documents.theblackvault.com/bluebookdesk/pbbreferencenotes.pdf) at The Black Vault. For a more comprehensive list and the story on how Bob Mercer obtained these documents refer to this site (http://www.noufors.com/Rob_Mercer_UFO_Document_Archive.html).

It’s a pretty funny story: Mercer got this information via a Craig List advertisement. However, the format of the information Mercer obtained, matches that which we can see on the National Archives. This finding further helped experts form a bigger picture of the kind of cases which Project Blue Book had investigated. And how they had investigated them. What the UAP allegedly looked like and what was the behavior observed. Remember, this was scientific study.

1964.04.24 Socorro, New Mexico, USA. (Lonnie Zamora Incident (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aLId3BFfQI))

This case was one of the cases which influenced Dr. J. Allen Hynek into becoming a believer. Furthermore, there are other cases which suggest that this was part of another "Flap." Since there had been other reported sightings around the area days before Lonnie Zamora's incident.

Over the years, Project Blue Book had accumulated 12,618 cases out of which 701, roughly 6% of the cases, were labeled as "True Unknowns." Furthermore, between 1954 and 1955, the USAF had commissioned a study at the prestigious Battelle Memorial Institute (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battelle_Memorial_Institute). 3,201 cases were categorized by the scientists who did this study. In the end, 21.5% were labeled as "True Unknowns." They could not provide any prosaic explanations for any of these cases. 21.5% is a significant number. However, the secretary of the Air Force, made a statement that it was only 3%. And such a low percentage did not deserve further scientific investigation.

1966.03.23 near Sheppard Airforce Base, Texas. (Eddie Laxson Incident (http://www.projectblueroom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Project-Blu…))

This sighting occurred at around 5AM, on a highway near Sheppard Airforce Base. On the border between Texas and Oklahoma. The sighting was corroborated by truckers driving in the vicinity. But Eddie Laxson was the only person to have gotten within close proximity of the craft. This case was among the cases which Dr. J. Allen Hynek became very interested in (http://kevinrandle.blogspot.com/2015/11/the-temple-oklahoma-ufo-occup…). Dr. Hynek highlighted this case in his book The Hynek UFO Report (https://www.amazon.com/Hynek-UFO-Report-Authoritative-Cover-Up/dp/159…).

The sighting happened a couple of years after the Socorro case, and it involved "a man dressed in uniform shining a flashlight unto the underside of the craft." Also, the alleged UAP had "legible numbers and letters on its surface." And the witness described that the object looked "exactly like conventional aircraft but without having any wings or motors."

However, the man dressed in uniform quickly got on the craft and the craft proceeded to depart at hypersonic speeds without making a sonic boom. This sighting was filed away and suppressed by Project Blue Book. It wasn’t a known “Unknown” and even though newspapers articles were written by the local newspaper. It wasn’t until Dr. J. Allen Hynek pointed to it via his book, that people in the UFO Community became more interested in it.

Furthermore, after Project Blue Book was closed in 1969. The US government consistently and strongly denied that they had continued studying the phenomenon. But the revelation of AATIP's existence in 2017 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Aerospace_Threat_Identificatio…) suggests that, the government may have continued to investigate the phenomenon outside of public view. And long after Project Blue Book's closure.

Conclusion

Ultimately, Project Blue Book's true goal was achieved. To create a mantel of stigma and ridicule around the phenomenon so that the general public's first reaction would be to quickly dismiss any UFO claims. The study of UFOs then became fringe science in the US. Subsequently this negative attitude towards the phenomenon became predominant all around the world.
