I am almost 40 years old, and for about 30 years I have been fascinated by UFOs, extraterrestrial beings, etc. However, due to the events of the last 10 years, I think it's time to say enough is enough, to stop allowing myself to be manipulated, to stop getting excited when I hear new promising information.

For decades, we have been stuck in the same fruitless cycle. A new, promising whistleblower appears, with connections to or a documented career in government/government agencies. Promises are made that in a week or two or three we will get a video/photo that will shake the world because it is the best, indisputable proof of the existence of either aliens or extraterrestrial technology that we have access to. Alternatively, it will be a book, or a document, or an interview, or a scan of a document. The long-awaited day of disclosure arrives, and we are spat in the face. Because we are shown a pitifully short video of such poor quality that no one really knows what is on it, or a film that is so obviously fake that it hurts. The same goes for documents and interviews, where we get 40 minutes of “talking heads” if we're lucky with the aforementioned pathetic “evidence.” After the “revelation,” nothing happens, the promising whistleblower begins to systematically lose credibility by presenting increasingly silly explanations for the weaknesses of their evidence, often in the meantime showing more even worse quality evidence that is easier to verify and refute, after which the world forgets about them.

Then, of course, a new promising whistleblower with verified connections appears...

Maybe the government is using us to cover up its own scandals and controversies with UFO sensationalism. Maybe it's people with connections and positions in the government who are using us for fame and money after their government careers are over. Maybe it's a mix of both. Or something else entirely.

The fact is that we are being used and lied to.

I think our community needs some deeper reflection and change.

Incredible claims require incredible evidence. Let's stop giving time and stage to people who claim to have evidence. Let's stop allowing ourselves to be fooled by conspiracy theories. Either you have irrefutable proof of the existence of extraterrestrial beings and are ready to present it, without any accompanying documentary, interview, or book, right now, without any arbitrary waiting period, or no one will take you seriously and waste their time.
