Description

I’m wondering if this is something commonly seen, or if there’s a simple explanation for it.

This is an image I’ve created to illustrate what I saw in my teens. I was outside around midnight, when I saw what I thought was a shooting star. It looked exactly like one, except when I would have expected it to disappear, it instead turned and shot straight up before blinking out. The whole thing happened in a small fraction of a second—I was going to point it out to the person I was with, but before I could even say the “L” of “Look,” it was over.

I’ve never stopped thinking about it, and I’ve never seen anything like it. Any thoughts?
