First I’d like to say that I wholeheartedly believe something fishy is going on with these incursions..

That being said, with the recent drastic increase in drone videos and photos, I have begun to notice an influx in legit hoax videos.

While the misidentification videos sort of irk me and I feel are a stain on our communities greater objectives of disclosure, seeing hoax videos and photos get 20k upvotes is a disservice to the topic of UFOs.

I myself have even participated in being awestruck by a few of these hoaxes so I do not post this out of arrogance - I sincerely feel we should take a collaborative effort between the mods and the community to improve the post qualifications and discernment of this sub.

I was totally convinced. Very quickly though other redditors found another account posting the same video a few days earlier, with OP alternating between accounts commenting on his own posts. He also had unmatched meta data on his security cam footage and his video, essentially proving that he was not shooting this video when he said he was.

Then we have the photo I posted above, another obvious hoax.

These are ultimately a drop in the bucket.

While I know this sub provides entertainment for a lot of people, there are actually a lot of very serious, intelligent posters on here and I believe at its best, this sub can be a resource for disclosure if there were more stringent efforts to filter bullshit videos and hoaxes and low effort conspiracy posting.

There are already a lot of rules here, and I don’t see why posting videos should not include a higher level of filtering by requesting clear meta data, location, camera used, coordinates, sound, and a specific minimum length requirement.

I believe this in itself would filter a lot of the BS and I believe mods and the community should help advocate this.

Hoping to hear others thoughts. We are shooting ourselves in the foot here.
