Description

I live on the East Bench of Salt Lake City, so I have a pretty good view of the valley (looking west) from my back deck. I went out there last night and this immediately caught my attention. It was pretty low over the city, extremely bright and pulsing with several different colors. It hung there for about 5-10 minutes before it started to move north and I lost it in some trees. I wish I had the presence of mind to just keep shooting but truth be told, I lost my videographer senses for the moment, I think I was just in shock. My wife came outside (a non-believer) and is still shaken this morning by what we saw. 

I also have video of what appears to be two more moving over downtown but I’m not confident enough in them to post. A few minutes later we saw one moving very fast and appear to possibly descend into the Great Salt Lake. The airport is that direction but it definitely wasn’t an airplane. I watch them line up and land all the time.

A few more things:

* I’m a USAF veteran - ironically my main duty station was Lakenheath from ’97-’02. I’ve seen all manner of flying equipment. I’ve seen more crazy flying shit (not UFOs) than most people. 
* I’m a video production professional, this is low resolution (around 14x digital zoom) but it is in focus. I locked my focus before zooming in. There aren’t navigation lights on this, it was the light. I’m planning on getting some better gear and taking it to a clearer vantage point just down the street tonight.
* I’m a spacey person, I look up A LOT and I have never seen anything like this in my life. It was incredibly bright and pulsing with all sorts of colored light. I’m very familiar with the view out of the back of my house. I sit out there and look over the valley constantly. This was abnormal. 
* A few people in r/SaltLakeCity have said they are police drones. I willing to entertain that if anyone can get me confirmed video of a police drone, but I really don't think so. This was far too bright and glowing.
