Description

Beginning in the early 1950s individuals started claiming that they had been visited by extraterrestrial travelers to our planet. The most famous of these UFO contactees was a spiritual guru and restaurant owner named George Adamski who came out with a fantastic story that denizens of the planet Venus had payed him a visit on multiple occasions and even taken him on a brief trip around the solar system in their flying saucer.

Adamski was responsible for some of the most infamous UFO photos in existence — photos which were proven to be blatantly hoaxed. Nevertheless, these photos and Adamski’s claims of alien visitation have had a wide-reaching impact on the UFO mythos. The photos of the Venusian saucer, which actually showed a cobbled-together prop made from a kerosene lamp and other commonplace items of the time, are intricately connected to another infamous UFO hoax.

The grain of truth regarding Nazi flying saucers was obscured by the most famous of such stories which amounted to nothing but pure fantasy. These are the stories of anti-gravity saucers with names like Vril and Haunebu — of hidden Nazi bases under the Antarctic ice and even on the moon.

What’s the connection to George Adamski? It is an under-appreciated fact that his Venusian saucer and the Nazi Haunebu just happened to be identical in appearance.

In his books The Flying Saucers Have Landed and Inside the Spaceships, Adamski made other claims of a more reasonable nature. He stated that he had been approached by persons with military backgrounds regarding the UFO issue on multiple occasions.

\[An\] individual with military ties asked him to photograph any strange objects in the sky that he happened to see. It was well known to those who frequented his cafe that he owned multiple telescopes and cameras. What appears baffling on the surface, is that the photos he would go on to produce were, not only hoaxes, but would ultimately be connected with the most preposterous of Nazi saucer propaganda.

This connection should come as no surprise however, for the George Adamski case itself seems to bear the fingerprints of the defunct Third Reich, remnants of which entered into a covert union with the budding US military-industrial complex and western intelligence networks at-large in the immediate post-war period.

Indeed, it is quite telling that the portrait painted by Adamski of his “space brothers” was the epitome of the Aryan Übermenschen of Nazi dreams. He described his most famous saucer contact called Orthon, as a blonde-haired, blue-eyed specimen that would have made Heinrich Himmler proud.

He even went so far as to give this alien visitor shoes with swastikas on the soles. Now, of course the swastika predates the Nazi regime — but given the broader context, it’s fairly safe to assume this was no mere coincidence.

An associate of Adamski, George Hunt Williamson, also claimed his fair share of E.T. contact with these “Nordics”, as they would come to be called. Unsurprisingly, Williamson had direct ties to the same troubling elements at work behind the Adamski narrative, being that he was an outright fascist who worked with infamous American Nazi supporter William Dudley Pelley, founder of the militant fascist group known as the Silver Shirts.
