During the week-long Citizen Hearing on UFO Disclosure from April 29 to May 3, 2013, six former Congress members—Rep. Darlene Hooley, Sen. Mike Gravel, Rep. Merrill Cook, Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick, Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, and Rep. Mike McMahon—gathered at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to explore UFO phenomena and advocate for greater government transparency.

They facilitated a platform for military personnel, scientists, and witnesses to share compelling testimonies and evidence of unidentified flying objects and potential extraterrestrial encounters. The Congress members emphasized the need for accountability and public awareness regarding the government's handling of UFO-related information. Their participation underscored a bipartisan commitment to understanding these phenomena, calling for more in-depth investigations and open dialogue. The event attracted significant media attention and contributed to the ongoing discussion surrounding UFOs and their implications for national security and scientific inquiry.
