Outside this morning, my partner noticed something lingering in the sky this morning. We live on an air pathway to ATL airport, so we are used to seeing planes in the sky. Whatever this was did not behave like a plane. It more or less floated in the sky. I noticed that planes were avoiding the area of the sky that this floated in, but there was no military response (Dobbins AFB is approximately 35 miles from this location.)

It moved higher, but lingered for a long time for it to be in the sky. It seems like a balloon would fly away with the wind. This was visible for over an hour. I kept trying to photograph it, and at first, anytime I would get it into any type of focus, it would essentially dissappear from the view of my camera.

I set up my small telescope in an attempt to get a better view. It looked like a semi-transparent football with a row of white solid lights on the top of it. When viewed through my telescope, I couldn't see anything hanging from it or attached to it.

Any ideas?
