Description

The Arcadians of ancient Greece called themselves Proselenes — “people before the Moon.” The Zulu spoke of a time when two brothers “threw a burning piece of the Sun” into the heavens to create it. Polynesian stories tell of two moons chasing each other, one bright and one dark, until the darker fell into the sea.

In Hindu myth, two Moons existed — Soma, the spiritual moon, and Chandra, the physical one. In Babylonian cosmology, the god Sin appeared in dual form: an elder and younger moon. Japanese tradition tells of Tsukuyomi and Uke-Mochi, lunar counterparts who became forever separated.

These patterns repeat globally — one moon lost, one remaining — suggesting more than coincidence.

Is it possible that our Moon was towed into its present orbit, many tens of thousands of years ago?

Why do so many cultures have such similar mythos?
