Location: Cleeve Common, Cheltenham, UK.

I tried to film it, but accidentally filmed my face instead of the sky (it was dark and I am an idiot) so here is a drawing of what we saw.

We (my husband and I) noticed an orange light coming towards us from the North, heading south. We stopped to watch as it had an odd halo of light around it that seemed to pulsate slightly. We thought it was a helicopter but it made no sound and as it got closer it came to to a stop close enough that we should have heard it. The colour changed from orange to a whiter light and it had a brighter line across the top and would get clearer, then fade slightly. It had no flashing lights, I have checked flight radar and nothing seems to match up, especially with how low this was. We doubt it was a drone but who knows.

It moved away after about 1 minute of hovering then moved towards the moon. The sky was absolutely clear and the moon is bright this evening so it was hard to see it against it, but it seemed to turn fully white and the halo around it faded away.

The halo could be something atmospheric/reflected light of the moon, but the way it looked and behaved was something we have never seen before. I’d say I’m a believer, but my husband is more of an open skeptic, but even he is a bit shocked at what we saw. Any idea what we saw? Any other sightings match this visual?
