Time: August 12, 2025 – 9:35 PM CST
Location: Hardin County, Iowa
I captured this tonight (August 12, 2025) at around 9:35 PM CST in Hardin County, Iowa.
It was moving from the southeast toward the north-central sky, very bright with a distinct halo/cloud-like glow around it. I managed to get a few still shots and a short video. It didn’t behave like a typical plane or satellite—there was no blinking navigation light pattern, and the glow seemed to diffuse outward in an unusual way.
The object remained visible for a while before fading into the distance. The sky was clear, so it wasn’t light reflecting off clouds.
Has anyone else in Iowa or nearby states seen this tonight? Any ideas on what it might have been?
