Dan Sherman, a former U.S. Air Force sergeant, claims that his training as an electronic intelligence (ELINT) analyst, including a course at the National Security Agency in 1992, was a cover for his real role as an "intuitive communicator" receiving telepathic messages from extraterrestrials in a secret programme he calls "Project Preserve Destiny".[1][2]

His service

Sherman says he joined the Air Force in 1982 as a security policeman, cross-trained into electronic intelligence and completed the ELINT technical school in 1990, served at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, and in Korea, and took part in the Persian Gulf War. He says he attended an intermediate ELINT course at the NSA's headquarters at Fort Meade, Maryland, in 1992, and served about twelve years, receiving a Commendation Medal and several achievement medals.[1]

His claims

Sherman says that shortly after the NSA course he was designated an "intuitive communicator" and indoctrinated into an above-top-secret programme involving "Greys". He says he received and relayed alien transmissions for two programme bases, worked with handlers nicknamed "Spock" and "Bones", and was later given "abduction data", which troubled him. He says he left the Air Force in the mid-1990s rather than continue.[1][3]

Publicity

He described the claims in his 1997 book Above Black: Project Preserve Destiny and on Art Bell's radio show in November 1997, and has continued to tell his story in interviews, including on the American Alchemy podcast.[2][3][4]

Assessment

His Air Force service appears genuine, but he is the only source for the programme. No documents, colleagues or other evidence support his claims, and the NSA has not commented on them.[1][2]
