Joseph Bryan III (1904–1993) was an American writer and editor who served as a naval officer in World War II. In the early 1950s he reportedly worked for the CIA, heading its psychological warfare staff.
UFO connection

Bryan later served on the board of governors of NICAP, the civilian UFO group led by Donald Keyhoe. Researchers have pointed to his intelligence background as evidence that the CIA watched or influenced civilian UFO groups. Some writers also suggest he was involved in efforts to shape public opinion about flying saucers, such as the 1950 radio claim by Henry J. Taylor that saucers were U.S. secret weapons. Bryan himself said he was interested in UFOs as a private citizen and believed some were alien.
