Mississippi UFO resolution (1979) — A Mississippi resolution calling for a Senate UAP investigation dies in committee.

In early 1979, according to the testimony, a resolution introduced in the Mississippi legislature by Rep. Horace Buckley called on the U.S. Senate to investigate UFOs. It died in committee without a vote.

Mississippi had a strong interest in the subject after the October 1973 Pascagoula incident, when shipyard workers Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker said they had been taken aboard a craft. The state also saw other sightings in the 1970s that drew local media coverage.

We couldn't find the text of the resolution online. Similar state-level efforts have appeared from time to time: in the 2020s several state legislatures, including New Hampshire and Florida, passed or considered measures related to UAP reporting.
