Navy linguist and the Soviet crash report — A Navy linguist says he decoded a Soviet report of a crash split between England and Germany.

According to an account in Leonard Stringfield's Status Report VI (1991), a former Navy linguist said that during his service he decoded an intercepted Soviet report describing the crash of an unknown craft whose wreckage was split between England and Germany. He suggested that the Soviets were tracking UFO crashes in the West.

The account was republished by Linda Moulton Howe in 2004, behind a paywall, and we couldn't find further details or confirmation. The Soviet Union did have its own UFO-related research programs, some of which were revealed after it collapsed in 1991, but no records of this particular report have surfaced. The linguist isn't named.
