With astronomer J. Allen Hynek and journalist Bob Pratt, Imbrogno co-wrote Night Siege: The Hudson Valley UFO Sightings (1987), describing the wave of boomerang-shaped objects seen by thousands of people, including reports from the Indian Point nuclear plant. He later wrote books on paranormal subjects. In 2009 journalists reported that he had made false claims about his education and military service, which damaged his reputation, though the Hudson Valley sightings themselves were well-documented.
