Project Blue Fly was a U.S. Air Force program to deliver recovered foreign space hardware — and potentially material from unidentified objects — quickly to the Air Force's Foreign Technology Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for analysis. It worked alongside Project Moon Dust, which located and recovered such objects.[1][2]
Purpose
According to a 1961 Air Force document, Blue Fly was a way to expedite the delivery of Moon Dust items to the Foreign Technology Division. The two projects were supported by intelligence teams of the 1127th Field Activities Group, formed in 1960 from the 1006th Air Intelligence Service Squadron.[1][2]
Records
Documents describing Blue Fly were released to UFO researchers in the 1980s. In a later response the Air Force said that the UFO, Blue Fly and Moon Dust programs no longer existed and that their records had been destroyed, a statement that has fuelled speculation in UFO circles.[1][3]
