Proposal for a new Project Blue Book (2000) — Bigelow tells Vallée of an idea to push Congress for a new Project Blue Book.
According to Jacques Vallée's journals, in January 2000 Robert Bigelow relayed an idea from Jim West, president of the defence contractor SARA (Scientific Applications and Research Associates), to ask Congress to start a new official UFO study, a kind of revived Project Blue Book.
The idea didn't lead anywhere immediately, but similar efforts eventually did. In 2007, with the support of Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, the Defense Intelligence Agency set up the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP), awarding a contract to Bigelow's company, Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies, in 2008.
The entry shows that the people who ran AAWSAP had been thinking about an official program for years. The program, and its related AATIP effort, became public in December 2017.
