In Plain Sight: An Investigation into UFOs and Impossible Science is a 2021 book by Australian investigative journalist Ross Coulthart, published by HarperCollins Australia, with a revised edition in 2023. It surveys the history of government involvement with UFOs and the claims of the modern disclosure movement.[1][2]
Author

Coulthart is a television journalist who worked for programs including 60 Minutes in Australia and won the Gold Walkley, Australia's top journalism award. After the book he became a prominent figure in UAP reporting, including his 2023 interview with whistleblower David Grusch for NewsNation.[2][3]
Content

The early chapters cover American and Australian military involvement in UFO investigations. Later chapters discuss claims about recovered wreckage, including the so-called "Art's Parts" fragments, the alleged memo describing a meeting with Admiral Thomas Wilson about secret programs, and other claims of hidden crash-retrieval programs. The book is sympathetic to figures such as Luis Elizondo and Tom DeLonge.[1]
Reception
Readers rated the book highly, and a fully updated edition was published in 2023. Writer Jason Colavito called it a "slipshod summary" of 75 years of ufology, arguing that it contained little original research.[1][2]
