Jake Barber is a U.S. Air Force veteran and helicopter pilot who said in January 2025 that he had flown missions for a secret program that recovered crashed craft, some of which he believed were not of human origin. His claims were broadcast in a NewsNation special presented by Ross Coulthart.[1]
Claims
In an interview with Coulthart, Barber said he had worked as a contract helicopter pilot recovering many kinds of downed craft. He described one mission in which he said he carried a smooth white object, which he called an egg, slung beneath his helicopter. He said it was unlike anything he had seen and that his team knew they were dealing with something extraordinary.[1] He said that members of the UAP Task Force had later confirmed to him that the object was of non-human intelligence.[1]
NewsNation aired the interview, along with a short video it said showed one of the recovery missions, in the special Hunting UFOs: The Crash Retrieval Whistleblower on 18 January 2025. The channel said three senior military veterans backed parts of his story on camera.[1]
Official response
AARO told NewsNation it was aware of Barber's claims. A Defense Department spokesperson, Sue Gough, said the department had found no verifiable information to substantiate claims that any program to possess or reverse-engineer extraterrestrial materials had existed or exists.[1] Barber's claim that the object was non-human has not been independently confirmed.
