The Emilcin abduction is the claim by Polish farmer Jan Wolski that on 10 May 1978 he was taken aboard a craft by small, green-faced beings near the village of Emilcin, in eastern Poland. A monument now stands at the site.[1]
Wolski's account
Wolski (1907–1990) said that early in the morning, while he was driving a horse-drawn cart, two short beings with slanted eyes and prominent cheekbones jumped onto the cart, sat beside him and spoke in an unfamiliar language. He drove with them to a clearing where a white craft "as long as a bus" was hovering, with four black, drill-like parts that hummed.[1]
He said he was lifted aboard on a lift-like platform, told by gestures to undress, and examined with a device like two saucers. Inside, the craft was dark, with benches and some motionless rooks. The beings ate something and offered him food like an icicle, which he declined. Afterwards he dressed, bowed to them, and they bowed back before the craft left.[1]
Aftermath
Wolski told his family, and his sons and neighbours went to the clearing, where they reported trampled grass and footprints. A six-year-old boy also said he had seen a bus-shaped craft rise over a barn.[1] In July 1978 Wolski was interviewed by researchers Henryk Pomorski and Krystyna Adamczyk; the recording was kept privately for many years before being released.[1] The case received little media attention at the time.[1]
Legacy
A memorial was erected in Emilcin in 2005. Its inscription reads, in Polish, that a UFO object landed there on 10 May 1978 and that the truth will astonish us in the future.[1] The story has been the subject of Polish books and documentaries, and the 2025 Polish Netflix series Projekt UFO is reported to have been inspired by it.[1]
Assessment
The account rests on Wolski's testimony and on later statements by family members and a young child. No physical evidence was produced.[1]
