Enigma Labs is an American technology company that runs an app and online platform for reporting and analysing UAP sightings. It describes itself as a data and community platform for UAP and uses machine learning to sort and score reports.[1][2]
The platform
In January 2023 Enigma Labs launched a UAP reporting platform for pilots, military personnel and researchers, through a mobile app then in beta testing. Users could file reports under a pseudonym, with fields for the shape, number, size and distance of objects, the number of witnesses and any radar data.[1] A wider invite-only launch followed in 2023.[2]
The app asks witnesses where and for how long they saw an object, invites photos and videos, and uses standard questions about shape, size and movement. It also asks questions that might point to ordinary explanations, such as whether the witness saw a contrail or lives near an airport.[2] Uploaded images are checked by machine learning for signs of manipulation, and each report receives a score for credibility.[2] The company said it had already loaded about 300,000 historical reports, including all the Project Blue Book records.[2]
People
Chief operating officer Mark Douglas told Vice he had never seen a UFO himself and that the platform was meant to help sort the many confusing sightings shared online.[2] Vice also noted a Politico report that the Pentagon was partnering with the company.[2]
