In December 2010 journalist Linda Moulton Howe published on her Earthfiles website cell-phone photographs said to show a glowing disc over the flight line at Hill Air Force Base, near Ogden, Utah. The photographs were reportedly taken on 12 September 2010.[1]

The report

According to Howe, the images were sent to her on 12 December 2010 by an anonymous Defense Department employee who worked the swing shift in a division related to weapons systems. He said a female co-worker had taken them near the "Pacer Fence" on the flight line, and had told him about them only months later because she feared getting into trouble over where they were taken. A Hill employee quoted in the report said she "felt like she was being watched", and that when she turned round, the object was moving down the runway. The full report is behind a subscription paywall.[1]

Hill is a major Air Force base and maintenance and logistics centre north of Salt Lake City. According to the testimony, it also appears in the disputed "Project Aquarius" material, which claims a UFO landing there in 1958.[1][2]

The witnesses were not named publicly, the images have not been independently analysed, and no other record of the sighting has been found. Howe, a television producer and journalist who has reported on UFOs and cattle mutilations since the 1980s, is regarded with scepticism by many researchers.[1][2]
