Harry H. Pretty was a U.S. Army intelligence officer in Berlin after World War II.
The Horten report
After the 1947 flying saucer wave, U.S. intelligence asked whether the discs could be Soviet aircraft based on German designs, especially flying wings developed by the Horten brothers. In December 1947, Pretty wrote a report after locating and interviewing the Horten brothers and their associates in Germany. He found no evidence that their designs had been turned into saucer-shaped craft or passed to the Soviets in a form that could explain the sightings. The document, released through FOIA, is part of the record showing the U.S. government seriously considered a foreign, earthly origin for the discs in 1947.
