Dewey Fournet was a U.S. Air Force major who served in 1951–53 as the Pentagon's intelligence liaison to Project Blue Book.
The motion study
In 1952 Fournet carried out a study of the movements of reported UFOs, examining whether the reported speeds and manoeuvres could be explained by known aircraft or natural objects. He concluded that some UFOs showed intelligent control and that the best explanation for them was interplanetary craft. His study was put before the CIA's Robertson Panel in January 1953, which rejected its conclusions. Fournet later served on NICAP's board. Michael Swords and other historians consider him an important voice for serious study within the Air Force.
