James Kopf is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a yeoman aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy in 1971.
His account
Kopf has said that in June or July 1971, in the Caribbean, he and others saw a glowing object hovering over the carrier, and that the ship's electronic and communications systems failed during the event. He said crew members were later told not to talk about it. His account was given in interviews decades later and has not been confirmed by Navy records.
