Curtis LeMay (1906–1990) was a U.S. Air Force general. He led bombing campaigns against Japan in World War II, built Strategic Air Command into the core of U.S. nuclear forces in the 1950s, and served as Air Force Chief of Staff from 1961 to 1965. He ran for vice president in 1968.
UFO connection

Senator Barry Goldwater said that in the 1960s he asked LeMay for access to a room at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base said to hold UFO material, and that LeMay angrily refused, saying he couldn't go there and shouldn't ask again. LeMay himself said in later interviews that he knew of no hidden UFO evidence. He is also named in some Roswell stories as having been briefed in 1947.
