Bobby Ray Inman (born 1931) is a retired U.S. Navy admiral and one of the most senior intelligence officials of his era. He served as Director of Naval Intelligence, Director of the National Security Agency (1977–1981) and Deputy Director of Central Intelligence (1981–1982). In 1993 he was nominated as Secretary of Defense but withdrew.
UFO connection

In 1989, researcher Bob Oechsler recorded a telephone conversation with Inman about recovered UFO material. Inman spoke vaguely, saying he had been out of the area for years and suggesting others to contact, which some researchers took as a hint he knew more. Inman has never confirmed knowledge of UFO programs. Jacques Vallée's journals also mention reports of Inman's interest.
