Description
Went camping with a group of people this weekend north of Pine, Idaho along the South Fork of the Boise River. A little after sunset we saw a group of 20-30 lights come up over the trees to the Northeast and fly directly over head to the southwest and disappear in to the distance. The objects were brighter than any stars at the time, moved in a group but changed direction independently multiple times within the rough grouping. When viewed through binoculars and a spotting scope, there looked to be many more smaller/dimmer objects in the group that were moving in multiple directions in the group. This was witnessed by a few dozen people and there are multiple videos of the same event. Did not appear to be in space but obviously difficult to tell. The objects were visible for 10-20 minutes as they traversed over our area. There is an Air Force base roughly 40 miles away and we did see a Forest Service reconnaissance balloon overhead at 58000 ft before the sun set, but are still trying to figure out what these were. I’ll dig in to the ADS-B data later tonight and see if there were any flights in the area but this did not appear to be a group of commercial or military aircraft.
