Pflock began investigating the Roswell incident in the early 1990s, with funding from the Fund for UFO Research, initially open to the idea that it was alien. He interviewed many witnesses and studied documents. In his 2001 book Roswell: Inconvenient Facts and the Will to Believe, he concluded that the debris came from a Project Mogul balloon train, and that stories of bodies were unreliable or invented, though he thought a few unexplained aspects remained. His work is respected by skeptics and many believers for its honesty.
