Mellon on conflicting insider claims — Mellon says credible people claim a cover-up, and equally credible people deny it.

In September 2022, Christopher Mellon said that credible people had told him about a covered-up UAP program, but that equally credible people had denied it, and none of those making the claim had given him proof.

Mellon has urged people with knowledge of such programs to go to Congress, where they can testify under legal protections. In 2023, Congress strengthened protections for UAP whistleblowers.

His statement captures the core problem of the UAP debate: claims by insiders that can't be verified publicly, and denials by officials that can't be fully tested. Within a year, David Grusch would publicly make the claims Mellon had heard.
