Naval Research Laboratory parapsychology claim — A journalist claims the Naval Research Laboratory had a parapsychology unit.

According to the testimony, a journalist claimed in 1990 that the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, D.C., had a parapsychology unit. The source cited is a book compiled by a writer using the name "Branton" about the Dulce base legend, a collection of largely unverified material.

We couldn't find any confirmation of an NRL parapsychology unit. A declassified CIA memo does record that the Navy ran a parapsychology research effort, aimed at possible submarine applications, until about 1975, when it was dropped partly because of fears of bad publicity. In 1999, the Navy stated that it had no office collecting information on UFOs or paranormal activity.

The NRL is a real and major research laboratory, responsible for advances in radar, satellites and other technologies. The claim about a parapsychology unit there should be treated as unverified.
