Richard Niemtzow is a U.S. Air Force physician and radiation oncologist who later became known for introducing "battlefield acupuncture" to the military.
UFO interest

In the late 1970s and 1980s, Niemtzow was interested in UFO-related injuries and cattle mutilations, and corresponded with researchers. Jacques Vallée's journals record conversations with retired Air Force officers, including one who said in 1985 there was a secret government UFO project, and in 2002 a retired colonel who said he had declined to join a secret McDonnell Douglas UFO study. Niemtzow was among the medical professionals in these circles.
