The MITRE Corporation is an American nonprofit organisation that runs federally funded research and development centres for government agencies, including the Department of Defense and the Federal Aviation Administration. It was formed in 1958 from MIT's Lincoln Laboratory to work on air defence systems.
Connections

MITRE administers the JASON group of elite scientific advisers. It also maintains well-known cybersecurity catalogues. MITRE radar scientist F. Robert Naka, later chief scientist of the Air Force, appears in Timeline events, and the organisation's air defence and radar work links it to how unknown objects are detected. No MITRE UFO study has been made public.
