Sunnyvale hangar saucer claim — A Navy radar observer says he saw a large saucer in a hangar at Sunnyvale in 1950.

According to Leonard Stringfield, the family of a former Navy radar observer told him that in 1950 the man had seen a large saucer-shaped craft inside a hangar at Sunnyvale, California. Sunnyvale was home to Moffett Field, a major Navy air station and the site of NACA's Ames Aeronautical Laboratory, which later became NASA Ames.

The story was second-hand by the time it reached Stringfield in the late 1970s, passed on by relatives rather than the witness himself. It appears in his crash-retrieval papers, which collected such accounts without being able to verify them. No records support it, and Moffett's huge airship hangars have long attracted rumours of hidden craft.
