Charles Hall says he was an Air Force weather observer at Indian Springs, on the Nellis range in Nevada, from 1965 to 1967.[2] In his self-published Millennial Hospitality books, he describes repeated encounters with tall, pale humanoid aliens he calls the "Tall Whites", who he says lived at the base with the Air Force's knowledge.[2][3] The books have attracted a following, and the term "Tall Whites" spread far beyond them. In 2014 Iran's Fars news agency repeated a story that "Tall Whites" were working with the U.S. Air Force in Nevada.[4][7] There is no independent evidence for Hall's story, and it is generally treated as an unverifiable memoir.[3]
The books
Hall describes the beings as having large heads and white skin, traveling in craft and interacting with Air Force personnel.[2] The publisher's description calls the first book "not like any other book you may have read about aliens". It promises answers to questions such as "where do the children of aliens play?", and describes a story of "friendship, romance, terror" that is "based on the true life experiences of the author, who claims he is not an alien".[3]
Library catalogs list five volumes by Charles James Hall:[3][8]
- Millennial Hospitality (1st Books Library, 2002; AuthorHouse edition 2003, about 480 pages)
- Millennial Hospitality II and III (2003)
- IV (2007)
- V (2012)
Google Books classifies the series as "Fiction / Thrillers / Suspense".[3] The earlier version of this article said Hall began publishing in 1999. The catalogs give 2002 for the first volume.[3][8]
Indian Springs

Indian Springs, on U.S. Route 95 in northwestern Clark County, Nevada, began as a way station on the Las Vegas and Tonopah Railroad.[1] Its airfield was built by the Army Air Forces in early 1942 for gunnery training. It was reactivated in 1948 as Indian Springs Air Force Base for weapons and aircraft testing, including support for nuclear tests at the Nevada Proving Grounds and high-altitude balloon recovery.[1] In the 1960s, the period of Hall's service, it became Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Field, focused on monitoring the Nellis range and later serving as a training site for the Thunderbirds.[1] It was renamed Creech Air Force Base in 2005 and is now a center for unmanned aircraft operations.[1] Nothing in the base's documented history mentions resident aliens.[1]
Later echoes

The testimony this article draws on notes that the term "Tall Whites" later appeared in claims spread by Iranian state media.[3] In January 2014 the semi-official Fars News Agency ran a story headlined "Snowden Documents Proving 'US-Alien-Hitler' Link Stun Russia".[7] It cited a supposed Russian FSB report on documents leaked by Edward Snowden, which had appeared on the conspiracy website Whatdoesitmean.com. According to the report, an "alien/extraterrestrial intelligence agenda" had driven U.S. policy since at least 1945, and the aliens included "Tall Whites" working with the U.S. Air Force in Nevada.[6][7] The story was widely ridiculed in Western media.[4][6][7]
In December 2020 Haim Eshed, the former head of Israel's military space program, told the newspaper Yediot Aharonot that the United States and Israel had long been in contact with a "Galactic Federation".[5][9] He claimed there was a joint underground base on Mars, and that the aliens wanted to keep themselves secret until humanity was ready.[5][9] The claims came in a book of conversations with him by Hagar Yanai. The chairman of the Israel Space Agency, Isaac Ben-Israel, said Eshed had gone "too far", and NASA said it had "yet to find signs of extraterrestrial life".[9] The testimony links him to the "Tall Whites" theme only tangentially, and neither episode supports Hall's account.[3][9]
Assessment
Hall's account rests entirely on his own self-published books, which are cataloged as fiction even though they are presented as based on true experiences.[3] No Air Force records, fellow servicemen or other evidence corroborate the encounters, and his service at Indian Springs is described only in his own writing.[2][3] The later appearances of "Tall Whites" in Iranian semi-official media and fringe websites show how far the idea traveled, not that it was true.[6][7]
