The "jump room" school is part of a set of claims by Andrew Basiago and William Stillings that, as young people, they were trained in a secret U.S. programme to teleport to Mars, together with Barack Obama and future DARPA director Regina Dugan. The claims drew international attention in January 2012.[1][2]

The claims

Basiago, a Washington state lawyer, says he took part as a child in Project Pegasus, a 1970s DARPA programme supposedly exploring time travel and teleportation. He and Stillings, who describe themselves as "chrononauts", said that in 1980 Obama — then 19 and using the name "Barry Soetoro" — and Dugan were in a "Mars training class" of about ten young adults at California's College of the Siskiyous, preparing to travel to Mars through a "jump room". They said Obama visited secret U.S. bases on Mars twice between 1981 and 1983, and Basiago said he spoke with him there. Basiago has named other participants in versions of the story.[1][3]

The White House denied that the President had travelled to Mars or that any Mars training class existed. Dugan was head of DARPA from 2009 to 2012.[1][2]

No evidence supports any of these claims, which are widely regarded as fantasy, though they attracted media attention because of the famous names involved.[1][2][3]
