Harry S. Truman (1884–1972) was the 33rd President of the United States (1945–1953). His time in office saw the 1947 flying saucer wave and the 1952 Washington, D.C., sightings, after which he reportedly asked the Air Force for briefings.
In UFO lore

In 1950 Truman told reporters that no flying saucers were being built by any power on Earth. The MJ-12 documents claim he set up a secret panel on crashed saucers in September 1947, but those papers are widely considered forgeries. Records at his presidential library show routine Air Force UFO briefings.
