Walter Riedel (1902–1968) was a German rocket engineer who worked at the Peenemünde research centre on the V-2 rocket during World War II, as head of design. After the war he worked in Britain and later came to the United States.
UFO connection
In the early 1950s, Riedel was associated with Civilian Saucer Investigation, a Los Angeles group founded in 1951 to study flying saucer reports scientifically. He was quoted in the press saying he believed saucers were real and might come from outside Earth. A CIA officer later admitted monitoring a public UFO meeting in Los Angeles in 1953, showing intelligence interest in such groups.
