Robert Lambert Hastings (born 6 May 1950) is an American UFO researcher, author and filmmaker known for his claims that UFOs have monitored and interfered with nuclear weapons sites. He wrote UFOs and Nukes (2008) and organised a 2010 press conference of former Air Force officers on the subject.[1]
Early life

Hastings was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His father was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, where as a teenager Hastings worked as a janitor in the control tower; he says that in March 1967 he saw controllers tracking five UFOs on radar near the base's missile silos. He earned a degree in photography from Ohio University in 1972 and later worked as a photographic technician at Northern Illinois University and as a laboratory analyst at Philips Semiconductors in Albuquerque from 1988 to 2002.[1][2]
Research
Hastings has interviewed more than 160 veterans about UFO incidents at nuclear facilities. His book UFOs and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites appeared in 2008, with a second edition in 2017, and he co-wrote Confession: Our Hidden Alien Encounters Revealed (2019) with Bob Jacobs. He has given talks at hundreds of American colleges and universities.[1][3]
Press conference and film
On 27 September 2010 he hosted a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., where former officers including Robert Salas described incidents at missile bases. He directed the documentary UFOs and Nukes: The Secret Link Revealed (2016).[1][4]
Views and criticism
Hastings argues that Earth is being visited by beings interested in the nuclear arms race and that governments have covered up the evidence for decades. Skeptic Benjamin Radford has said his claims add no new evidence to old and discredited reports.[1][5]
